fandom: the killing (2011), pairing: stephen holder & sarah linden, rating: t+, word count: 4,489
As she listens to the water rush softly against the shore, Sarah can’t remember the last time she enjoyed nature just for the sake of it. But she isn’t completely focused on the cry of seabirds or the soft shine of meager sunlight on the curves of rippling sea water. Her thoughts are more internal, looking past the silhouette of downtown Seattle and towards her not-so-distant past.
Stay echoes in her head from this morning, when she looked up into the eyes of the only person, besides her son, who ever made her feel like she belonged.
